Roger Molland drecently dropped me an email to show us his BEAUTIFUL Mk2 Escort rally car that he likes to call 'Ort' 😃

As you can see from the pre-build pics, this Escort was in a right state when Roger first acquired it, but after an extensive 4 year restoration (by Roger and his wife) it now looks AMAZING!!
Now finished in Ford Mustang 'Race Red', this Mk2 has been built to group 1 spec but with the addition of some group 4 goodies, including the tarmac arches and super wide alloy wheels.
The engine bay is immaculate, but purposeful with the centre piece being a very tasty Pinto lump, built by Dave Fisher D and D Developments, to a very high spec including a re-bored block, an FR32 camshaft from Kent Cams, a vernier cam pulley, and the list goes on. Fuel is delivered via a pair of twin Weber DCOE carburettors, and the lump is dressed up with nice bits like the blue silicone hoses and colour coded red HT ignition leads. The engine is accompanied in the bay by all the goodies you would expect from a high spec Escort including an alloy radiator, oil catch can / breather, a strut brace to keep the geometry where it should be, and the twin brake reservoirs mean the car also has a bias pedal box fitted.
The transmission of choice for this build ia a Type 9 5 speed gearbox form a Sierra, and power is delivered to the wheels via a single piece propshaft, and a Quaife Engineering ATB differential.
The car has Capri 2.8 Bilstein front suspension, with Princess 4 pot brakes, Bistein shocks at the rear with de-cambered group 1 single leaf springs and a rear disc brake conversion using Sierra calipers.
As you would expect from a rally car the cockpit includes a set of bucket seats (OMP), some proper harnesses (Sabelt) and the car has a 6 point Safety Devices International Ltd roll cage.
This is genuinely a DREAM spec escort and Im defo going to do my best to get this thing on my YouTube channel at some point in the future.
