This car was won in a competition by Richard's Grandad's neighbour when it was brand new, but they couldn't drive so Richard's Grandad bought it. It has been passed down the Payne family ever since and @@_e.payne._ is hoping to own it when he is old enough to drive too.
Originally an 1100 model, this car has had many different engine and suspension setups over the years and is now a bit of an RS2000 replica.
The engine in the bay is a 2.2 Pinto lump, fitted with a fast road camshaft, and fuelled by a set of twin 45 DCOE carburettors. This is bolted to a 'type 9' 5 speed gearbox, fitted with a Quaife quickshift.
Other modifications include: Cibie spot lights on the front, Capri 2.8 Bilstien front legs, anti tramp bars, Gaz adjustable rear shock absorbers, single leaf rear spings, poly bushed throughout and the list goes on and on!
The interior features a works spec centre console, reclining bucket seats and the battery has been relocated to the boot.
I think it's awesome that this Mk1 has been in the same family from new and it is now a much more EPIC machine than when it rolled off the production line.
