This thing is a BEAST with a Cosworth YB lump in the bay producing over 550 bhp!
Engine spec is as follows: Ported cylinder head, Cat Cams BD16+ camshafts, heavy duty valve springs, Precision 6062 Gen 2 turbocharger bolted to a 2WD Cosworth manifold, Airtec inlet plenum, 1600cc Bosche injectors, 70mm throttle body, high pressure oil pump, steel con-rods, ceramic coated forged pistons, Turbosmart waste gate, and the list goes on and on! This is all controlled by a Haltech ECU, and it's all kept cool with a big intercooler, and a big radiator, with 2 12 inch Spal fans.
The power is sent through a twin plate McLeod clutch capable of 800Nm of torque. The gearbox is a rebuilt 'top loader' from a 1969 Ford Mustang which is fitted with a Hurst 'V gate' shifter. The propshaft (modified to fit) Is also a Mustang item, as is the differential, which is a Nascar spec Eaton Detroit locker which can handle 1200Nm of torque!
This Escort currently has Gaz suspension all round but Joseph has already ordered a QA1 setup for the rear to give him some extra adjustment.
The front brakes are Wilwood 4 pot calipers and Wilwood discs and the rear brakes are Sierra Cosworth RS500.
Joseph has some how squeezed the 15x8 inch front and 15x9 inch rear Compomotive alloys under stock arches! And these are clad in Toyo R888 tyres.
The interior features a pair of OMP bucket seats and an OMP rear bolt in roll cage!!
It's a well known fact that the Maltese guys know how to build an Escort but WOW! What an absolute animal!!
