Daniel Fonseka from Canada has been in touch to show us a pair of old skool Ford Cortinas that him and his Dad David own! 😃
The 1969 Mk2 Cortina is Daniel's and he bought it 4 years ago as his first car. Last year he ripped the 1600 Crossflow engine out of the bay and replaced it with a 2.0 Zetec lump, running on Mikuni motorbike carbs and Nodiz Pro ignition. The car has an Ashley exhaust manifold mated to a 3 inch exhaust system, a Coolex aluminum radiator and some goodies from @Retro Ford, but some of the parts have been homemade items that Daniel has adapted to fit to keep the costs down. He is after all, only 19 years old and still studying.
The car is lowered 2 inches so that Daniel can make the most out of it at track days but it also has leather Honda Accord seats to make it comfortable enough for daily driving. The perfect all rounder and surely the coolest car in the school car park! 😃
David's Mk1 Cortina is a 1966 GT which was wearing the Lotus colours when he acquired it. In the engine bay is a modified Pinto lump, bored to 2.1, and running on a set of twin Weber 45 DCOE carburettors, and fitted with a fast road camshaft. With Gaz suspension all round and an L.S.D in the rear axle I bet this Cortina is loads of fun on the track! David is currently working on tidying up some messy wiring on the car but apart from that she's ready to rip!
