Daniel South has been in touch to show us his Mk1 Escort! 😃

Painted with matt blue rattle cans this thing has been built with function in mind rather than form, although in my opinion it still looks the business! I’m sure it will upset some of the purist anoraks on the scene, which is always a bonus.
The engine in the bay is a trusty 2.0 Pinto lump but with a huge Holset HX35 turbo hanging off the side of it mounted to a custom exhaust manifold with screamer pipes!
The engine is fully built with a fully forged bottom end, a ported cylinder head, an uprated camshaft, big injectors and a custom inlet.
Currently this setup is running on waste gate pressure (just 16 psi) and produces a massive 290 bhp. Next year tho, Daniel intends to turn the boost up which will hopefully raise the power to around 400 bhp which will be MEGA!
Also in the engine bay, there is a nice alloy radiator to keep things cool, and through the cold air holes in the front panel I can see a front mounted intercooler.
The power is delivered to the road via a Cosworth T5 gearbox, an atlas axle with an L.S.D and uprated 2 piece half shafts.
Behind the 15 inch alloy wheels is a 305mm Hi-Spec 4 pot brake kit at the front, and a disc brake conversion at the rear.
In the cockpit the car has been treated to an aftermarket steering wheel and billet boss, a set of Sparco bucket seats, and a nice alloy rally style panel housing switches and gauges.
Im loving the boot build in this Mk1, with an alloy fuel tank, and a nicely mounted swirl pot and fuel pump setup, all plumbed with AN fittings. . . . And is that a meth tank I see in the passenger side of the boot area????
This is one serious Mk1 Escort and I really hope I get to see it in real life one day! 👍
