Check out these 2 Mk1 Escorts that belong to Cesar Airam from Tenerife, in the Canary Islands. 😃

Cesar has owned the white car (originally a 1300 GT) for 22 years and it was green when he acquired it. It was his first car and typically, it came with plenty of rust. Back in the day (before Ebay) Cesar would work on the car every week with help from his wife and his father. and once the tin-worm was deleted Cesar had the car fully resprayed white and added the black stripes.
The engine in the bay is a trusty 2.0 Pinto lump, running on a set of twin 40 DCOE carburettors, with a Newman Cams camshaft. Power is sent to the wheels via a type 9 5 speed gearbox and an ATB differential in the rear axle. With bubble arches, wide wheels and the spotlights on the front, this car has the classic Escort race car looks and as you can see from the pics, Cesar like to have plenty of fun in it! 😃

The orange Escort was added to the Airam fleet in 2008 and was white with blue stripes when Cesar purchased it, similar to Roger Clark's iconic RS1600 rally car. This car also had plenty of rust to deal with and 5 years ago was stripped, restored, and painted in the orange colour you see now.
The bubble arches of this Mk1 are filled nicely with some 15 inch ‘minilite’ alloys, and this car also has the ‘2 up, 2 down’ spotlights on the front. The engine bay of this car is a work of art with a 2.0 Pinto lump, running on twin 45 DCOE carburettors, fitted with a Kent Cams camshaft. There is a nice alloy radiator which is plumbed by Samco silicone hoses, brake fluid reservoirs for the bias pedal box, and an interesting looking electronic ignition setup which replaces the distributor.
Cesar still lives a dream life which is dominated by Escort ownership and regular drives and works on his cars. Long may it continue! Thanks for getting in touch Cesar! 👍
