HAPPY THURSDAY PEOPLE!! 😃
After weeks and weeks of repeatedly calling Elite Racing Transmissions @eliteracingtransmissions21 (also known as Beagle Engineering) it's clear they have absolutely no intention of sending me a pair of replacement uprated half shafts for 'Maude' my moredoor Mk2 Escort.
They had agreed to send me ONE new shaft and said that I would need to remove the old bearing from the broken shaft and fit it to the new one???
When I called them 2 days ago I told them I do social media for a living and the guy's tone changed slightly. I was told I would get a call back that day or the day after (yesterday) but I still havn't heard anything, and I know there are followers all around the world waiting to see what is happening with 'Maude's replacement shafts.
To be honest I'm glad theyr not going to replace them because despite the shafts costing me £624 they are clearly a lot weaker than the 40+ year old non-RS halfshafts that were fitted before (they lasted 8+ years of abuse VS the 1 YEAR that the 'uprated' ones lasted)
When the shafts were sold to me I was told they were strong enough for 250 bhp tarmac track cars running 10 inch wide slick tyres. 'Maude' has 160 bhp and she runs road tyres. Admittedly 'Maude' is driven hard BUT she was driven hard with the non-RS shafts.
I have been advised by a precision engineer (with DECADES of experience producing components for the aerospace industry) that is it clear that the hardening process has been carried out incorrectly, resulting in the shafts being too brittle. Therefore I am obviously worried about refitting the un-broken shaft so in my opinion a PAIR of new shafts is a reasonable expectation (even then I would just have to HOPE that the hardening process will be carried out corectly this time!!) I have offered to send the old pair back top Elite Race Transmissions at my cost so there is no worries that I am trying to keep the un-broken one as a free spare.
So UP YOURS Elite Race Transmissions!!!
I cannot afford to buy another set of uprated shafts from another company so I will have to just fit some stock Ford ones which are clearly stronger than your CHOCOLATE SHAFTS! 🙁
