It seems I have developed a new obsession!!! 🤦♂️ Vintage mechanical watches!! ⌚️
And me being me, I have decided I want to get hands on and learn how they work. I'v already bought some tools, and I have been binging on horology videos on YouTube, and I'v been hunting for watches to buy too.
One of the watches I have purchased is a very modest but super cool Tissot PR 516 from ebay. Its swiss, mechanical, relatively understated, and old (from 1970) so it's right up my street.
It has it's original automatic mechanical movement inside, and the plan with this one was to focus on refinishing the case. The case is actually waaaay better than I thought though, so for now I'll just throw a better strap on it and enjoy it.
I have already chucked it on a timegrapher, and it's not running too terribly, but it would defo benefit from a strip and service at some point soon-ish.
I want to dive into stripping and rebuilding a manual wind movement first though, so I'm currently looking for a running example for that.
There's more to life than just cars and YouTube.
